Something new to us is the ability to serve & minister as a family.
We are so grateful for the partnership our church has with
StreetWise Ministries, which allows us to do this pretty regularly.
We headed out to the Auburn Trailer Park
and helped with a Thanksgiving event there.
Our job was to help play games with the children
as their parents listened to the Gospel presentation,
got clothing and then a full Thanksgiving meal.
It's always a gut check for me when we go there.
I can tend to complain, tend to want, tend to think selfishly.
Then I step into what almost looks like a third world country,
(that's literally right in my 'back yard', so to speak)
and realize I need nothing.
Talk about perspective ...
I get plenty of it every time we serve.
The StreetWise buses - one is set up for people to listen to a speaker,
the other is set up with racks and racks of clothing.
Lisa & Faith,
serving together as well ...
Blaine-o ready for some football.
J-man kept saying he hoped to see some of the same kids he played with
when we went to pass out school backpacks.
There were a few, but mostly new faces.
We've learned that the population in the park is very transient.
Jacob - happy to be there!
Blaine with some new friends ...
Cutie or what?!
Fun with games ...
The children were able to listen to a Bible story ...
Adorable!
More games - love seeing our youth helping out as well ...
The line for food & clothing ...
it was pretty constant for the 2 hours we were there.
The needs are great.
Love serving together -
look forward to more opportunities.
