Take Me Out to the Ballgame!!
What a GREAT idea - the boys and I were talking right after Mother's Day about what they wanted to do for their Daddy on Father's Day. Jarrett spoke right up and said, "Go to a Braves game!" Seeing how all the boys want to do these days is play ball in the backyard and knowing Bowdie's love of the game and the important part it's played in his life, I loved the idea of us all going to our first 'real' game! I researched options, looked online for deals, pondered and pondered, and even got on Ebay and bid on some pretty decent seats. But I wasn't thrilled with the prospect of getting my 3 boys up to the nosebleeds and them actually being able to see and enjoy the game. Enter our hero, Barry Mock (actually, it was his wife Christa and her quick action when she heard I was looking for tickets). He graciously let us have a set of 4 tickets and a parking pass from the company he works for. Did I say they were only about 20 rows behind the Braves dugout?? Wow . . . we were blown away! It turned out to be a great experience - except that Jacob got bitten by fire ants after our picnic and the fact that it felt like a sweltering 100 degrees, even after the sun set! Jacob didn't make it much past the 4th inning, so we left then and everyone was okay with that since the Braves were winning 7-0. To Jarrett, it's all about winning! Special thanks to the Warbington boys for loaning our boys the Braves shirts - they worked great! We'll definitely do it again . . . it may be a Father's Day tradition!
Here we are in our seats . . . I think we could have literally fried an egg on them, it was SO hot!!
Here are the boys with their rally caps on . . . only thing was: a. the game hadn't even started and b. the Braves won like 13-0, so no rally was needed. Oh well . . . practicing for tougher games!!
Here are Bo and his boys. Jarrett and Blaine were in awe of the baseball field and sitting so close.
Here's Jacob doing the tomahawk chop - all on his own doing. They just started playing the song and he saw everyone else doing it and joined in . . . so cute!!
Here are the boys enjoying our picnic before the game. We decided to use the tables and shade available outside the gate to eat instead of trying to do it inside the stadium. It really worked out great and Bo was able to take all the stuff back to the car so we didn't have to carry it around inside.
