I Scream, You Scream ...

We have a pretty strict beach rule: NO OUT TO EAT. Not because its expensive. Not because we are anti-social. And certainly not because we don't like restaurant food. But we've found, as we've added children to our family, its just too hard. Too hard to leave the beach at 4:00 to get ready ('cause we love the beach). Too hard to get 5 people showered, changed, and in the car. Too hard to think about if there are even clean (or decent) clothes to wear. Too hard to pay vacation-town prices for kids meals that don't get half eaten. And so on.

So we choose to eat in. (But I must add, we are take-out experts ... if you think I actually make dinner on vacation, you've lost your mind!!)

This year, though, we broke the rule. For just one night. And it wasn't too terrible. After all, the boys are bigger, they can shower themselves, and we ate later so that we didn't have to leave the beach until almost 5. We enjoyed a yummy seafood dinner with my parents, my sister & her brood and even some of their North Hall friends.

Afterward, we strolled around downtown Fernandina Beach. Such cute little shops and fun things to look at. The hot spot in town, however, is the ice cream shop. On the corner. Always crowded. Always a line down the sidewalk. And worth every second of the wait.

After dinner shot ...

Uncle Rob occupying the kiddos as we wait in the line for ice cream. Some kind of hand game.

Lena Raechel ...

Okay, this is Lena's friend Lilly. And that glob on her cone is called 'Superman' ice cream. They tried to convince my superhero loving 5 year old to get that. So glad he wasn't deterred from his chocolate chip with sprinkles. Yikes!

Blaine ... and that's supposedly a single scoop - WHAT??!!

Aunt Beck & Jacob ...

MMMmmmm ... love waffle cones .... love my hubby ... not in that order.

my dad & Jordan ...

fun shoulder ride back to the car ... all in all, it wasn't that painful.

Not that we are changing our beach rule.
