Friday night we made it to our first North Hall football game.
This time last year,
we never would have expected to see this:
Jess is supposed to be suited up and on the field.
He's supposed to be enjoying his senior season.
He supposed to be spending every Friday night playing 'under the lights.'
I think of the verse in Proverbs:
'A man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.'
Yep, we all planned for him to be playing.
Yet the steps that the Lord has ordained for him don't include one last year of football.
I'll admit - it was hard to not have him out there to cheer on.
But I'm proud of him, despite not really wanting to,
standing on the sidelines and finishing well.
Sticking it out with so many of the guys that he's played ball with since 7th grade.
Because, after all, it's not how we start,
but how we finish that counts.
And is remembered.
Looking forward to a great baseball season ...
Lord willing!
It's how we finish...so much of God's plans surprises us. "His ways are not our ways nor His thoughts our thoughts." This is an important lesson and one your boys will need at some point.
