Bolt {the wonder dog}

Well ... we did it.

Took the plunge and got a dog.

After being hard core against it for years (& years),

it finally made sense.

With Blaine being homeschooled this year,

I knew that there was going to be one major issue:

boredom.

Getting done with school a full 2 or so hours before your buds

is tough.

Especially when you're a play-outside, never-come-inside

kinda kid.

So we polled the kiddos on what kind of dog they would want.

Because our friends have a boxer (named Otis, oddly enough!),

they all voted boxer.

So Bowdie went on a secret mission looking for puppies.

He found some near our home.

We loaded the kids up,
headed out in the jeep,
and tried to keep the secret from the kids.

They quickly figured out that something was up.

We traveled to what seemed the most secluded place
(which really was only about 30 minutes from home)
and met the litter.

There were 2 males to choose from and Blaine picked
Bolt from the get-go.

Not really sure why Bolt stood out,
but it was a done deal after that.

And so, Bolt has officially become the 6th member
of Team Jenkins.

He fits in quite nicely.

He gets lots of love.

He's a puppy,
so he's a booger at times.

But we love him.
And look forward to many memories including him!

This was the 2nd day we had him.

Blaine asked if he could read his chapter book out loud to him.

Absolutely!

We're all pretty mush-faced over him.

Bo loves to rub his belly.

And he loves the attention!

Bolt is inside the house ...

try not to faint dead on the floor! )

Blaine laid down with him one morning and he just snuggled right up.

I think Bolt loves touch as much as Blaine does.

He also hates the word 'no' as much as Blaine-o too!

Yeah - its a good match,

all the way around!

Just FYI:

Blaine came up with the name.

It's partly after Usaine Bolt, the runner in the Olympics.

It's partly after Bolt, the animated movie.

And its partly after the white streak on his nose & forehead,

which looks like a lightning bolt.

It definitely fits him!
