Okay - this is one of those amazing God stories that gives me chills every time I think about it! Many of you know part of this story because you were involved through prayer, so as Paul Harvey says, I have to give you the rest of the story! So here it goes . . .
Krista Ganley is one of my dearest, best childhood friends. She and I were pretty much inseperable from the time we could carry on a conversation until I moved to Lawrenceville in 6th grade. We did EVERYTHING together - and looked like twins doing it most of the time (because we would purposefully dress alike). We were in church together, our families vacationed together, we sang in choir together, played handbells . . . we even had the 2 pieced heart that said best friends on it - each of us with one piece. Well, time, as it always does, moved on and we moved away and life seemed to take us in different directions. We kept in touch from time to time, but nothing like we'd been in our younger years. Now, fast forward to a couple of years ago. Krista moved back to Duluth with her husband and son and we had reconnected. She was having surgery to remove a large fibroid and was at the local hospital near our house. When they removed the tumor, all was well until they spotted a few cancer cells on it that looked abnormal. After the tests came back, they ruled it ovarian cancer. What a shock for Krista, her family and friends as well. But here's the kicker - had she not had the tumor and had it removed, they would not have found the cancer until it was probably way further along and way more deadly. Coincidence?? No way! Being the trooper she is, Krista endured chemo, losing her hair, and all the yuck that goes along with trying to beat the disease. She came out on the other side 'clean' and cancer free and even held a party for all her friends a year after her diagnosis to celebrate her success.
During all this ordeal, she and her husband, of course, knew that the likliehood of having more children was very dim and they had pretty much come to grips with that. Here's the incredible part . . . she got pregnant once (to her SHOCK and AMAZEMENT) but miscarried early on. Then, lo and behold, she got pregnant AGAIN and this time all went well . . . and here's where we are today. Not only did the LORD bless her and Michael with one precious new baby, but with TWO - SHE'S PREGNANT WITH TWIN BOYS!!!! I get teary just typing about it - God is so about 'muchness' (as our Sunday School teacher calls it) - one baby would have been a blessing - but two??? Two just puts an exclamation mark on the miracle He's performed in Krista and for her family. Praise the LORD!!!!!!! We had a fun morning last week as Krista and Colin came over to visit before the big arrival -
This is Colin, their 4 year old son and Jacob. They played so good together and had a blast!
And here's the miracle woman herself . . . cancer-free and pregnant with 2 precious boys!
And here we are together . . . my, my how time flies.
SEASONS CHANGE, BUT FRIENDS REMAIN . . .
Wow! How AMAZING is our God! What sweet pictures!
