True Kindreds ...

The older I get, the more I appreciate things that have no monetary value.  Like friendships.  We are blessed with some of the most amazing friends ... I mean, really, amazing.  Let's see, we have friends that are missionaries, we have friends that are teachers, we have friends that are pastors, we have friends that are homemakers; we have friends that live here, live in NC, live in NY, live in FLA, live in TX; we have friends that are on staff at a church, others that are involved in government work, and still others that are in school to fulfill the call God has on their lives.  All of them are amazing and it's very humbling to think that the LORD would see fit to bless us with each one.

One especially dear couple to us, the ones that I call our 'kindreds', are George and Catherine Robinson.  George goes way back to college days with Bowdie and I.  Cat came on the scene once she and George got engaged.  We have been through ups and downs, lots of moves - locally (us) and internationally (them), babies being born, deaths of dear loved ones, degrees earned, parenting frustrations ... you name it, we've probably experienced it with one another.  And so we are bonded in a way that miles can not divide.  And although they are serving the LORD up in Wake Forest, NC, they are STILL our kindreds.  What a joy to walk this road with them as George is now living his dream - and God's call - as a professor at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  What a joy to encourage one another as we are in 2 different places.  What a joy to get together a couple of times a year and pick up right where we left off.  Seasons change, friends remain ...

A great dinner with the Robinson's at California Dreamin' ... and then, of course, in true Robinson style, coffee and conversation at the closest Starbucks!  Love these guys dearly!
